Morning Classes, 9:00 am - noon: Academics, Athletics and Extracurricular

Grades offered: 5-8

Students learn to build and design TWO entirely different creative woodworking projects. They will have the opportunity to utilize a wide variety of tools to cut, sand, paint and build their projects from scratch.

Kids of all ages can be great photographers! This is an engaging, hands-on, interactive course where young photographers will explore their creativity using an iPad and/or camera supplied by the school.

This course includes local daily photo walks and multiple avenues to explore different aspects of photography. The students will also have access to a digital archive of their photos so they can build their own digital portfolio.

Grades offered: 1-4

Students will explore engineering concepts in a safe, fun and hands-on way. They will have the opportunity for hands-on designing and building using a variety of materials. Students will also expand their knowledge of scientific engineering through technology and coding.

They will be faced with challenging yet accessible engineering activities from which they can learn and grow.

Grades offered: 1-2, 3-4, 5-6, 7-8

Keep the fun in “fundamentals” to build confidence, understanding and success.

Hands-on manipulatives and innovative strategies will assist students in putting theory into practice. Students who had difficulty with units during the school year will receive the necessary remedial teaching to ensure successful math experiences in future grades.

Enrichment will also be provided by introducing keen students to future curriculum.

Reading and writing are the keys to success in all subjects and grades.

A multifaceted approach will improve children’s ability to read and write with more fluency and accuracy. Various activities will improve comprehension through brainstorming, mind mapping and critical thinking.

An individual assessment of the students’ writing will also be completed so that lessons can target trouble areas. Reading and writing skills will be enriched to pave the way for future success!

Young chefs will have the opportunity to create mouth-watering appetizers and snacks.

Young chefs will learn quick snack and munchie ideas and of course be able to sample and taste everything that they prepare and cook in their kitchens. Students will also leave the class at the end of the week with a collection of tasty recipes that they can try at home.

Calling all soccer players! Come and experience a professional soccer course where students will develop their soccer skill level as well as their athletic ability through a wide variety of exciting soccer themed games and activities.

Following the ‘Long Term Player Development Model’, students will develop the technical skills of dribbling, trapping, passing and shooting, as well as the tactical skills of attacking, defending and team play. Come and experience the ‘Beautiful Game’!

Afternoon classes, 12:30 - 3:30 pm: Athletics, Fine Arts & Extracurricular

Grades offered: 4-8

This high-energy course will develop basketball skills in an enjoyable, productive way. Progressions in shooting, passing, dribbling, lay-ups, post moves and other offensive skills will be covered. Defensive systems, skills and footwork will also be addressed. Individual and team skills will be reinforced during fun drills and games. Improve your skills and play for your school team next year.

Do you love to code? Do you want to learn to code?

In this course, students will hone their computational thinking skills in order to create their own computer game, interactive art or animated story from scratch! They will learn how to code from start to finish, culminating in an end-of-week Hack-a-thon!

At least half an hour per class will be designated for some unplugged games and physical activity that reinforce computational thinking skills.

It’s a course with the perfect balance!

A fun and engaging art course for young artists, where students will experiment with a variety of art mediums and techniques to create beautiful, colourful, one-of-a-kind art pieces. Students will explore texture, collage, colour, surface design and composition while discovering the fundamentals of combining painting, collage, drawing, assemblage and printmaking mixed-media projects – all while having fun, and maybe getting a little messy too! Students will use their creativity and imagination to bring their unique masterpieces to life.

Tear, cut, rip, glue, paint, draw, assemble – create!

Note: Please bring an art shirt - an oversized t-shirt will do.

Grades offered: 5-8

Create your own skateboard or longboard! Learn how to operate various power/hand tools to create your own unique board. Students will choose a cool board design, cut it out, sand it, design it, paint it and grip tape it.

You will leave with a completed board that will be ready to ride. All you will have left to do is put on the “trucks”.

This exciting and popular course features participation, cooperation and skill development in a variety of spring, summer and fall activities. Individual and team skills will be reinforced through a games focus. Favourite units include badminton, ball hockey, touch/flag football, swimming, softball, soccer and lacrosse.

Many other activities will be explored based on student interest.

FUN, FUN, FUN… for everyone, in a less competitive environment!

Grades offered: 3-8

Does the smell of chocolate and baking in the oven drive you crazy? Come learn how to bake some delicious temptations!

Young chefs will have the opportunity to be “hands on” with everything they bake as well as tantalize their taste buds as they sample their creations. Students will also leave the class at the end of the week with a collection of recipes that they can try at home.

Grades offered: 4-8

Develop volleyball skills and knowledge in an enjoyable way with tons of energy. Learn to forearm pass and volley with better control and to spike and serve with more accuracy. Individual skills, court positioning and teamwork will be reinforced during game play. Improve your skills and play for your school team next year.

Volleyball will be played indoors and outdoors.

Grades offered: 1-5

Students will explore a hands-on “discovery” approach to science through investigations, experiments, and indoor/outdoor explorations. Basic chemistry, inventions and working with robots are just a few of the topics that will be explored in this course.
